New app keeps residents up to speed on scheme safety

The My Building Safety App plaque on the wall

A pioneering app is being trialled in our Housing for Older People schemes to give residents and visitors customised safety and compliance info at the touch of a button.

Our Tenant Satisfaction Measures tell us 80.4% of residents are satisfied their home is safe, and we want to continue to help them feel that way.

The My Building Safety App gives Housing for Older People scheme residents and visitors immediate access to a wide range of safety and compliance personalised to each building.

Each of our 23 schemes have a customised web page on the My Building Safety App, with corresponding QR codes being distributed to residents and displayed on plaques near each scheme entrance.

Eastlight Compliance Manager, Natasha Gibberd, said:

“The aim of the app is to give assurance and essential safety information to residents, contractors and service providers, such as the fire service.

“We decided to try the app following the new Building and Fire Safety Regulations being launched after the Hackitt Review. We are only the second housing association in the country to try the app, and, if its successful, we’ll look to roll out in all 300+ blocks."

Head of Compliance & Estates, Taryn Paton, said: “This app helps us take a significant step forward in meeting the requirements of the Building Safety Legislation—enhancing peace of mind for residents and their families.”

The app is available through Google Play or the App Store.
