Keeping your home safe from damp and mould

We know damp and mould can be a real worry for many Eastlight residents. That’s why our expert Healthy Homes Team are on hand to work with residents to understand what’s causing the problem, find the best way to fix it and prevent it from coming back.

From Monday, 27 October 2025, Eastlight must comply with a new law called ‘Awaab’s Law’, see more here, named in honour of two-year-old Awaab Ishak who tragically passed away following long exposure to mould in his social home.

The law sets out strict timeframes that all social landlords, including Eastlight, must follow – investigating and fixing reports of damp and mould, and communicating with residents clearly so they know what’s being done and when.

While our damp and mould service already meet these requirements of Awaab’s Law, we’ve introduced further improvements, so resident’s continue to receive the support they need.
