Gas Safety Week 2025: Keeping your home safe

This week marks Gas Safety Week 2025 – a national campaign raising awareness about the importance of gas safety in our homes. As your housing provider, we want to take this opportunity to remind all residents how vital it is to stay safe when it comes to gas appliances.

Why does gas safety matter?

Faulty gas appliances can cause leaks, fires, explosions, and even carbon monoxide poisoning. Carbon monoxide (CO) is especially dangerous because it has no smell or taste, making it impossible to detect without an alarm.

What we do as your landlord:

  • We carry out annual gas safety checks in every property with a gas supply
  • Our qualified Gas Safe registered engineers inspect your boiler, cooker, and other gas appliances to make sure they’re safe and working efficiently
  • After the check, you’ll receive a gas safety certificate for your records.

What you can do

  • Always allow our engineers access to your home when your gas safety check is due
  • Never try to repair gas appliances yourself – always use a Gas Safe registered engineer
  • Test your carbon monoxide alarm regularly and report any faults
  • Know the signs of a gas leak or carbon monoxide poisoning: headaches, dizziness, nausea, breathlessness, or the smell of gas.

In an emergency

If you smell gas or suspect a leak, call the National Gas Emergency number immediately on 0800 111 999 and leave the property until it is safe.

Gas safety saves lives. By working together we can ensure every home is warm, safe and secure.
