Emma Palmer chosen to help improve homes for disabled people across the country

Emma Palmer stood in Piccadilly Circus in front of a huge billboard for Purple Tuesday.

We have exciting news to share!

Our Chief Executive, Emma Palmer, has been chosen by the Government to take on a very important role. She is now the Disability and Access Ambassador for Housing for the whole of the UK.

This means Emma will speak up for disabled people and help make sure homes and housing services work better for everyone – whether they live in social housing, rent privately or are buying their own home.

Emma said: “This is a huge honour. I care deeply about the lives of people in our homes and communities. I want to make sure that everyone – no matter their needs – has a home they feel proud of and a service that works for them.”

At Eastlight, we have already made big steps to include and support people with disabilities. We’ve been working with Purple, a national disability organisation, since 2021, and in 2023 we became one of their Founding Partners.

Emma’s new voluntary role means we can do even more – not just at Eastlight, but across the country.

We are so proud that Emma is helping to lead the way for housing. Her work will help make sure more people can live in homes that are safe, welcoming and right for them.

We’ll keep you updated as her journey continues.
