18-35 survey results: what young residents told us

At Eastlight, we’re always looking for ways to improve by listening to the people who matter most - our residents. Recently, we hosted a workshop and ran an online survey with residents aged 18-35 to better understand their experiences and what they’d like to see from us.
This group represents a vibrant and growing part of our community and their feedback has given us valuable insight into what’s working well and where we can do better.
What we heard
There was a lot of positivity in the responses. Many residents told us they love the location, comfort and sense of community in their Eastlight homes. That’s fantastic to hear and something we’re proud of.
At the same time, some residents shared areas where we could improve. These included:
- Clearer communication
- More transparency around service charges
- Faster turnaround on repairs
One message came through loud and clear: being listened to and seeing action really matters. When residents feel heard and see changes being made, it builds trust and strengthens our relationship.
We also heard a strong desire for more digital engagement and more opportunities to share views, whether online or in person. It’s clear young residents want to feel more connected and involved in shaping their housing experience.
What we’re doing
We’re taking this feedback seriously and acting on it:
- We’re reviewing how we communicate to make sure updates are timely, relevant and easy to access, especially through digital channels like newsletters and our new customer portal (launching soon)
- Our repairs and maintenance teams are working hard to improve response times and keep residents better informed throughout the process
- We’re continuing to promote ways for residents to get involved, like through our Resident Members Charter, so that everyone has a chance to help shape Eastlight’s future.
We’re really grateful to everyone who took part and shared their views, and we’ll keep listening, learning and improving together.
And finally, congratulations to our £100 voucher prize draw winner, Laura Wells!
