We’re very pleased to announce that Peter Baffoe has been appointed as the new Chair of Eastlight Community Homes and will join us on 1 November 2026.
Peter is a social housing resident and brings extensive experience in housing governance, resident engagement and community leadership.
He has been a resident member of the Peabody Board since 2018 and is currently its Vice Chair. He has also chaired Peabody’s Resident Experience Committee, helping to ensure residents’ experiences and views are heard at Board level.
Peter grew up in social housing in Elephant and Castle and later became a Peabody resident. His first-hand experience, combined with his leadership and governance background, will bring an important perspective to Eastlight.
Alongside his housing roles, Peter is Executive Director of South London Mission, Chair of Governors at Rye Oak Primary School and a Trustee of Maudsley Charity.
Peter’s appointment reflects Eastlight’s commitment to being a resident-led organisation, where residents have a meaningful role in shaping decisions about their homes, services and communities.
Peter said: “I’m excited to join Eastlight as Chair. What really attracted me to Eastlight is its commitment to being a resident-led organisation and making sure residents have a meaningful role in the decisions that affect their homes and communities.
“As a social housing resident myself, I know how important it is that residents feel listened to and can see that their experiences are helping to shape services. I’m looking forward to getting to know Eastlight’s residents, colleagues and partners, and working with the Board to build all of the incredible things the organisation has already achieved.”
We look forward to welcoming Peter to Eastlight in November.
