British Sign Language support with SignVideo

Our SignVideo service helps deaf and hard-of-hearing residents who use BSL communicate with Eastlight.

This week (21 – 27 September) marks International Week of Deaf People – a time to raise awareness of deaf people’s identity, culture, languages and human rights, including the importance of removing barriers to communication and access.

At Eastlight, we want residents to be able to communicate with us in a way that works for them. One of the ways we aim to remove communication barriers and make our services more accessible is through SignVideo, our British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation service.

SignVideo supports deaf and hard-of-hearing residents who use BSL, helping them communicate directly with our teams.

What is SignVideo?

SignVideo is a Video Relay Service (VRS) that helps you communicate with Eastlight using BSL.

The service connects you with a qualified BSL interpreter, who then connects you with our Customer Services Team and relays the conversation in real time.

This means you can communicate with us using BSL, helping make conversations clearer and our services easier to access.

How can you use SignVideo?

Contacting us through SignVideo is simple:

1. Visit our website – Go to our Contact Us page here and click 'Get in Touch' here.
2. Click ‘Chat to us via BSL’ – this will start the SignVideo service.
3. Connect with an interpreter – a qualified SignVideo interpreter will connect you with our Customer Services Team and relay the conversation.
