Glow-up event held for refreshed community centre in Manningtree

We invited local businesses, community groups and residents to an event to celebrate the transformation of Foundry Court Community Centre on Tuesday, 8 September 2026.

Located in the heart of Manningtree, the Eastlight-owned building has undergone a series of improvements to enhance the experience of visitors and hirers, creating a more modern, welcoming and versatile venue for the local community.

Guests, including Manningtree’s Mayor, Cllr Ruth Stocks – who cut a ceremonious ribbon to officially open the event - enjoyed refreshments, a guided tour, meeting members of the local community & businesses already using the centre, and learning more about the range of rooms available for hire. 

The centre is suitable for a wide variety of activities, including business meetings, training sessions, classes, support groups, community events and social gatherings. 

Helen Symonds, Eastlight Community Homes’ Facilities Manager, said:

"Foundry Court Community Centre is a valued part of the Manningtree community, and we're so excited to unveil its fresh new look. We want the centre to continue to be a welcoming, accessible space where people come together to work, learn, socialise and support one another.

Councillor Ruth Stocks, said:

“It was a great pleasure to attend the reopening of Foundry Court. I was very impressed with the high standard of work involved in the refurbishment of the building, and I am sure that the many facilities on offer will be well used by both the residents and the Community. 

“The children and baby groups, counselling sessions and food bank - to name just a few - will improve the lives of many people in the community.”

Chantal Clough, who hires a room at the centre for Orella Professional Ear Wax Service, said: “It was a great morning for Foundry Court, and it was lovely meeting other local services and the community.”

The fully accessible centre is located on one level and includes wheelchair-accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities, helping to ensure the space is welcoming to everyone.
